Joseph Abboud

Founder and Portfolio Manager

I’ve been a “finance junkie” ever since I participated in my first mock stock market competition in high school. After graduating from Temple University with a degree in Finance and Real Estate, I officially began my career in finance. I spent years working on products at various firms, including Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, and Invesco.

I was being paid well in a field that interested me, but I felt something was missing. I couldn’t help but think about my day-to-day purpose. I was helping already wealthy and established institutions make more money, speaking to people nonchalantly about numbers in the billions with little to no emotion, no positive or negative reactions—just empty thank-yous.

During this time, my wife was entering residency, and I had the pleasure of helping her and a few of her friends. We discussed the right things to do when it came to investing, what habits to build, and my overall knowledge of the market. I felt better afterward, and I didn’t even get paid. It was then that I realized I had an opportunity not only to help those in need (seriously, MDs need it) but also to build a real business with a real purpose.

I’ve always had a disdain for the advisory business while working. As someone on the institutional side, I was privy to unpleasant conversations and tactics aimed at the consumer/retail side of the business. So, I figured if I wanted this to change, if I wanted to be different, I could do that with my own firm. Thus, Rinzler Capital was born.

My core purpose with Rinzler Capital is to help healthcare workers navigate their financial lives and to show them the power of a financial plan as a wealth builder and overall anxiety reducer.

When I’m not working as an advisor for clients or managing my investment fund, you can find me spending time in the gym, optimizing strategies in the occasional video game, or spending time on the BeltLine with my wife.
